Scientists say they have taken a big step toward displaying live video in three dimensions — a technology far beyond 3-D movies and more like the Star Wars movie scene where a ghostly Princess Leia image pleads, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
Researchers at Arizona State University and at MIT are hard at work trying to make holographic television a reality. While it is many years off, the holographic video technology right now is more like a slide show with a two second delay between slides and it lacks full 306-degree movement. Both of those elements need to be improved upon before holographic TV becomes the living room standard.
