EPA to Study Oil and Gas “Fracking”

The Environmental Protection Agency is going to spend $1.9 million to study the practice of hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” by the oil and natural gas industry to reach deep natural resources. The process injects water, sand and chemicals deep into the ground to get to buried oil and natural gas pockets.

The EPA will study the effects the process has on human health, water quality and the environment.
