President-elect Obama announced that today, Martin Luther King Day, is a national day of service. From civic and community volunteer efforts people across the country are participating in over 12,000 programs and service events.
American Association for the Advancement of Science is asking scientists to start serving, too. In October AAAS began a program called “on-call scientists” to encourage working researchers to volunteer to help make the world a better place.
