Hurricanes and global warming don’t mix. This is one of the more contentious areas of the climate change issue.

But new research from Florida State University and published in Nature magazine this week puts much of the uncertainty about hurricanes to rest.

In the Atlantic and Indian oceans, hurricanes are becoming more intense as measured by increasing maximum wind speeds.
