Today marks the 55th Anniversary of the discovery of DNA’s structure. It’s also the 5th Anniversary of the fully sequenced human genome. Yesterday the U.S. Senate passed the first genetic non-discrimination bill. It heads to the House where it will likely pass and President Bush says he’ll sign the GINA into law.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is calling for a National DNA database to help solve more crimes and protect innocent people from being convicted. He’ll appear on Fox’s America’s Most Wanted tomorrow.
To mark all of these genetic occasions, National Institute of Health has declared April 25 National DNA Day.
