Greenland is a big unknown when it comes to climate change. Could the giant Greenland ice sheet melt suddenly and cause sea levels to rise dramatically? Yes, but when? That is the big question.
Scientists are trying to learn all they can about ice dynamics in hopes of better understanding how ice sheets flow, especially during the summer.
Woods Hole Polar Discovery Project is sending scientists back to Greenland to continue their research on ice dynamics. Science musems and online audiences will be able to see photo essays and even chat live with the glaciologists by satellite phone. Check your science center for details.
