A type of artificial blood has been created after five years of research. Scientists have combined a hollow, square-shaped molecule with iron to monomers that build together in a tree-like structure. The result is very similar to natural hemoglobin in size and shape. Once it is tested in a living animal, it should prove similar in function as well.
