Soon taking a stroll through the landmarks of Europe will be as easy as opening a digital map. Wait a couple of years and all the major landmarks of the world—from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome to the Statue of Liberty will be digitally reconstructed using other people’s vacation photos. The work is being done at the University of Washington and has already shown great promise.
